Short Biography
Amélie-Gabrielle Boudet, French, was a professor of Literature and Fine Arts, visual artist and author of the works "Contos Primaveris" (1825), Notions of Drawing (1826) and The Essential in Fine Arts (1828).
Born in Thiais, a French commune, on November 23, 1795. The only daughter of Julien-Louis Boudet, owner and former notary, and Julie-Louise Seigneat de Lacombe, she was known within her family as Gaby.
After attending primary school, she moved to Paris with her family, enrolling in a Normal School, from where she graduated as a 1st class teacher.
She was the wife of Hippolyte-Léon-Denizard Rivail, the codifier of the Spiritist Doctrine, under the pseudonym of Allan Kardec, and helped him with his tireless and uninterrupted work for the study and dissemination of Spiritism.
